Pictured below is an early development for my Major Project, which features modern newspaper prints I designed. My whole project is about album art, the history of music's visual translation & its place in today's Digital Age. I designed these newspaper prints to evoke events that happened throughout 2020 (as there were many), while turning some of the biggest & most ubiquitous headlines into 10inch record covers that were neatly stacked in a box.
I wanted to show how much the album cover throughout its over 100 years of existence, has served to project events & thoughts of modern society through its visual lens. Today the album cover has lost much of its original meaning and serves more as a branding & marketing tool, rather than as a source of knowledge & entertainment.
