For this project we had to re-design the front cover and a few content page templates for the World Wide Napier’s monthly magazine. My inspiration for the design came while I was sitting in a quaint little cafe in Krakow, several days before the deadline. I was doing a Polish crossword and I thought it was a really interesting concept how activities such as crosswords are ubiquitous in the world. My front template follows the style of a crossword, but within each rows of boxes; reveals the word ‘world’ in about 30 languages of countries that the magazine receives articles in.
I chose to keep the palette neutral but soft in colour. The colour-theme could change every month, but strive to remain warm and inviting for readers. With this design, I felt much creative opportunity could rise when making each edition - every month could have a different word that’s written throughout the crossword design, keeping the crossword theme alive, interactive and engaging.
